The Measure of a Lady by Deeanne Gist

Rachel Van Buren arrives in San Fransico during the gold rush, with her younger sister and brother. Trying to get to her morals she agrees to work for a man who owns a hotel and bar. Her younger sister falls prey to the men who shower her with thier affection and her brother becomes a gambler. She opens a resturaunt that only accepts family people. When a fire spreads througout the city she learns that the women she scorned arent so horrible after all. After she is married she opens up a resturaunt and employs soiled doves to give them a second chance.

This book was full of interesting twists and turns. I enjoyed reading about a woman, in the midst of sin, stand on her beliefs and try to help other people. The book was very good and i know i will read this one several times.
